New Smash Hits Monthly NEW MONTHLY SEPTEMBER 1978 25p

Smash Hits The music magazine Smash Hits was first published, in a monthly format, in 1978. The content included interviews with pop stars, and Top 20 song lyrics. The magazine logo used a variety of font types over the years, but initially was in Antique Olive Nord Italic, with a drop shadow for effect.
Grease The year, saw a marked jump in UK singles sold, over sales in the previous year, helped in part, by multiple releases from the soundtrack of the American musical film Grease: 88.7 million were sold in total, a record, until it was narrowly surpassed, in 1979.
